Freight Mobility
The international supply chain is a dynamic and ever-changing system that relies on an established and well-maintained infrastructure network to carry cargo through the ports to their next local or national destination. It’s the Port of Seattle’s responsibility to make sure the roadway system outside the Port gates can accommodate truck and rail movements efficiently, or the cargo will find another route. International imports and exports create good jobs and economic development for Seattle, the Puget Sound region and the state. The Port’s mission is to work with other freight stakeholders to provide the needed infrastructure to keep freight moving and keep the Port of Seattle competitive with other North American ports.
