With the holiday season upon us, more people are traveling through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. According to the Port, approximately 150% more people are traveling through the airport now compared to this time last year. With an increase in population there is an increase of incidents, and the members of Port of Seattle Fire Department are here to provide the highest quality care and service.
Despite the difficulties of living and working during a pandemic, our department met the challenges head on by adjusting safety protocols, adapting training methods, and being ever vigilant, especially with patient care. Firefighters continue provide AED and CPR training for hundreds of workers around the airport. Combined with regularly placed AEDs, this has contributed to the Port Fire Department holding the highest cardiac save rate in the world. When called for a medical incident, we arrive within 4 minutes on average. The members of our department work hard to assure public care is our highest priority.
