SEA Visitor Pass FAQs

What is the SEA Visitor Pass Program?

This program allows members of the general public who are not flying that day to visit SEA and enjoy the amenities on the post-security side of the airport.

The SEA Visitor Pass program is intended for personal use and to enable approved visitors to spend time with friends and family or shop and dine at the airport. Any commercial or business use or any other uses not specifically listed here are expressly forbidden and could result in revocation of your approval to participate.

How does SEA Visitor Pass work?

Step 1: Apply Online

You can apply the day of your visit or up to seven days in advance. At this time, SEA Visitor Pass is limited to 300 visitors a day, you can see a countdown of the number of passes remaining on the application page. If you cannot select a date on the online form, that means the visitor slots are full for that day.

Check that your information is accurate and provide your full legal name (exactly as it appears on your passport or driver’s license), date of birth, and your sex.

  • If you’re applying for same day entrance: You’ll receive an email with your approval status within 15 minutes.

Step 3: Show off your SEA Visitor Pass

If approved for entry, you’ll receive an email with a QR code to scan upon entry at TSA Checkpoint 3. Make sure you have it on hand (either print or digital) along with your TSA-approved ID.  Each person using SEA Visitor Pass must display their individual QR code and ID at security, those without the approval email will be denied entry.

SEA Visitor Pass participants must enter through general screening at TSA Checkpoint 3 between 5:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. Get step-by-step directions on our interactive map or check live checkpoint wait times on the flySEA App!

Can I meet passengers arriving on an international flight?

You can meet passengers arriving from domestic destinations in the United States at their gates if you are approved for SEA Visitor Pass access.

This program does not apply to most passengers arriving directly from destinations outside the United States, because they must clear U.S. Customs at their first point of entry in the U.S. The area where international passengers go through Customs is secure and only accessible to international travelers.

  • You can meet passengers arriving from most international destinations outside security at the Baggage Claims level in Gina Marie Lindsey Hall which is on the very south end of the terminal near the international airlines, so you do not need to request a SEA Visitor Pass. For more information on meeting international arriving passengers.
  • If Seattle is the first U.S. point of entry for a passenger, they will need to clear U.S. Customs here. If they are connecting to another U.S. city, you can meet them at the gate of their departing flight if they already have their tickets for the connecting flight.
  • If passengers are arriving from Dublin or the Canadian cities of Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto, or Vancouver, you can meet them at their arrival gate because they have already been cleared for entry to the United States.
Can I leave the airport and come back later in the day?

Yes, SEA Visitor Pass allows exit and re-entry only on the day of your approved visit. However, you must enter security at Checkpoint 3 each time by 9 p.m. If you return on a different day, you will have to complete another request for entry through the online registration and be approved for entry.

How can I tell if all visitor spaces have been filled on a specific date?

If you cannot select an entry date on the online registration form, visitor quotas for that day have been reached. Please register for another date.

May non-U.S. citizens participate in the program?

Yes, you may participate. Please submit your registration to the SEA Visitor Pass program, wait for approval for entry, provide the QR code you were emailed, and a form of TSA-approved ID at security checkpoint 3 on the day you are permitted to enter.

Should I request a SEA Visitor Pass to meet an unaccompanied minor?

No, arrangements for picking up an unaccompanied minor from a flight should be coordinated directly with the airline.

Where is arrival gate D20?

Several flights at SEA park away from the gate and bring passengers to the terminal by shuttle bus. If you are meeting a passenger at Gate D20, you can meet them on the escalator landing leading down to the D Concourse terminal train station near Gate D2.
