Seattle is a city built by the sea, anchored in a pioneering spirit, and washed in a sense of adventure. Our community is home to incredible sports fans, from 12s and Storm Crazies to Kraken, Sounder, Cougar and Husky fans!
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is unleashing the Kraken with a special exhibit now on display, featuring the Buoy Tower and Kraken S that were developed as set pieces for the 2021 Expansion Draft that took place at Gas Works Park.
Reclaimed and repurposed for SEA to celebrate our newest hometown team’s inaugural season, stop by the Kraken exhibit for photos and selfies near Gate N10.
The Kraken celebrates our Pacific Northwest maritime legacy and history of adventure, which has been reflected since the National Hockey League’s (NHL) 32nd hockey club debuted its name and logo. The NHL teamed up with local company, Hotopp, to develop the set for the 2021 Expansion Draft and the strength of the local knowledge shines through in the elements.
The Buoy is 11 feet tall and sits upon a faux-rock base that is 64 inches wide. Barnacles and starfish cling to the rocks of the multiple piece set element totaling 1400 pounds. The Primary logo “S” is 10 feet wide and 11 inches tall and weighs in at 900 pounds. The eye of the “S” is LED and was animated during the 2021 Expansion Draft to look around the audience.
Airport workers and travelers are encouraged to wear Kraken jerseys, sweaters, toques, and gear at SEA. Dive deeper by sharing your photos and videos with us by tagging @flySEA and @seattlekraken and using #SEAWhatsKraken.
Travelers can show their true colors with Alaska Airlines, the official airline of the Kraken. Fans who wear the team's jersey can board early on Alaska flights departing SEA this season.
