The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected every aspect of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) operations, including causing a significant decline in trips for taxi and flat-rate operators.
On March 24, Port of Seattle Executive Director Steve Metruck announced at the Port Commission meeting that the Port would provide temporary financial relief to on-demand taxi and flat-rate drivers serving SEA Airport. Commissioners offered their support for his action at the March 24, 2020 Commission meeting, and the Port notified affected groups following the meeting.
Beginning at midnight on March 24, 2020 the Port will not collect per-trip fees charged to operators for a period of 90 days. We will be determining the period for repayment and other details.
“This is an important first step for the Port to help provide relief to those most impacted and least able to withstand such a severe and sudden drop in income,” said Port of Seattle Commissioner Fred Felleman.
The Port continues to assess relief options for other impacted businesses.
