Move over meat, it’s time for plant-based dining to shine. Although today is World Vegetarian Day, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) provides passengers with many options beyond typical tofu every day. Our region offers a bounty of gastronomic joys, and SEA is now also serving up plant-based perfection.
Every dine-in or grab-and-go eatery at the airport has a vegetarian option, but here’s a roundup of some of our best plant-based options.
Meatless in Seattle
The broad choice of food in the Central Terminal offers menus for every diet and palette. Follow the big green sign to Evergreens, which provides healthy, convenient and delicious meals for passengers on the go. From signature salads, wraps and grain bowls to seasonally-inspired selections, Evergreens makes it easy to maintain a healthy lifestyle while traveling. To order ahead, download the Evergreens Salad app for Apple and Android, skip the line, and earn rewards.
Follow the smell of Mexican food to Qdoba at the beginning of the B Gates, where anything on the menu can be customized. From a burrito bowl, to a salad, to a burrito, you can build-your-own plant-based delight. Qdoba also debuted Impossible ™, a meat substitute that is made from plants and tastes like beef. In August, the chain just launched vegan, keto, and double protein bowls.
Floret, located at the beginning of the A Gates, is a passenger favorite for those seeking all organic vegan and vegetarian food. If you’re in a hurry, the espresso and grab-and-go counter makes for quick service without compromising on quality. Despite not being listed anywhere, Floret’s “secret menu item” and fan favorite specialty drink is an oat milk lavender honey latte. If your schedule allows it, savor your dining experience on the sit-down side of Floret for a vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free menu that changes regularly to serve the best of the season. From salads to cinnamon rolls, everything is vegetarian!
Plant-based and headed abroad
If you’re traveling internationally, you are likely hopping on the train towards the South Satellite. Stop by Greedy Cow Burger near Gate S3. While the menu focuses on burgers, Greedy Cow carries Beyond Meat — a plant-based burger that looks, cooks and satisfies like beef — so you can customize your burger to a plant-based feast. Come early as Beyond Meat can sell out quickly!
Nom noms in the north
Check out the new atmosphere in the and delicious foods in the new N gates. First stop, Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen, with a sit-down restaurant and grab-and-go selection. Bambuza intertwines Vietnamese flavors with vegetarian dishes such as the tofu Banh Mi sandwich or vegetarian salad rolls, both with crisp vegetables, sautéed tofu, and peanut sauce.
If you want something more casual and quick, Caffe D’arte is the spot. Caffe D’arte is a coffee shop with an elevated menu of pastries, sandwiches, and pizza made fresh to order. You can choose a grilled portabella mushroom sandwich, salad, or even a vegan pizza with a cauliflower crust.
Whether it’s World Vegetarian Day or plant-based eating every day, come to the airport early and hungry and enjoy a fresh, flavorful vegetarian meal.
