The Port of Seattle has a long history of environmental stewardship in Puget Sound. We will continue to work with the EPA on its recently announced ‘No Discharge Zone (NDZ),’ along with our state and local partners in ways we can improve and protect Puget Sound waters.
Alaska homeport cruise ships calling at the Port have not discharged waste in Puget Sound for several years, and the port offers 3 pump-out stations at recreational marinas and is installing a commercial pump-out for vessels at Pier 69. As the EPA proceeds with rulemaking, we urge the agency to work with affected maritime interests to ensure the continued viability of maritime industries that are so important to our region’s economy.
