New nonstop choices for travelers continue to add up at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport as Alaska Airlines introduced daily service to Tampa today. This comes on the heels of the addition of another unserved city, New Orleans, last week. Tampa previously was the largest unserved city out of Sea-Tac.
“The Port of Seattle is excited about the growth of opportunities for business and leisure travelers with Alaska Airlines’ efforts to open up even more parts of the country from Sea-Tac Airport,” said Mark Reis, Managing Director of Sea-Tac Airport. “This is the kind of addition that attracts new business into and out of our region as well as offering new, exciting, easy-to-get to vacation locations for travelers.”
"We are proud today to begin flying to our 75th nonstop destination out of Seattle," said Joe Sprague, senior vice president of communications and external relations. "We have been flying out of Sea-Tac Airport for more than 50 years, and are thrilled to offer our Seattle customers one more opportunity for a nonstop trip to the beach."
New nonstop service to New Orleans by Alaska began on June 12.
Alaska is the largest operator at Sea-Tac Airport with 51.5% of overall passenger traffic in 2013, including 54.1% of all domestic passenger traffic. Alaska previously announced plans to increase departures out of Seattle 11 percent by next spring, increasing daily flights from Sea-Tac from 253 to 280.

Alaska will operate Seattle-Tampa service with Boeing 737-800 aircraft and Seattle-New Orleans service with Boeing 737-900 aircraft.

Through April of 2014, overall passenger traffic at Sea-Tac is up 4.2 percent over the same period in 2012. In 2013, Sea-Tac set a record with over 34.7 million passengers, a 4.8% increase over 2012.
