Passengers worldwide have spoken — and give top marks to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in multiple categories of the Skytrax World Airport Awards.
Sea-Tac Airport ranked in the top ten of four categories including #3 for Best Airport Staff in the world! Last year, Sea-Tac was ranked #1 in the world in that category. Sea-Tac also ranked #4 for Best Regional Airports in North America, #8 for Best Airports in North America and #10 in the category of World’s Best Airports Serving 30-40 Million Passengers.
The rankings were announced as part of the 2014 Skytrax World Airport Awards at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Barcelona, Spain. The World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.
“Earning this distinguished honor speaks to how employees from the Port of Seattle, airlines, tenants and other agencies put the customer first,” said Sea-Tac Managing Director Mark Reis. “Every staff member who interacts with travelers leaves a distinct impression that reflects on our airport, city, region and country. Over 15,000 airport employees representing more than a hundred companies come together to orchestrate a world-class customer service for our passengers.”
To generate the rankings, over 12.85 million customers worldwide completed surveys rating 410 airports. The surveys use 39 airport services and product performance indicators to measure customer satisfaction across a range of services ranging from check-in to departure.
The annual customer survey, begun in 1999, is administered independent of airports. For more details, see the World Airport Awards website.
Sea-Tac Airport, ranked as the 15th busiest airport in the U.S. and 40th in the world, served a record 34.7 million passengers, a 4.7 percent increase from 2012. International passenger traffic grew 10.2 percent over the previous year.
