The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) team is always looking forward to your visit, and we’re working to keep you happy and healthy during the holiday season. For obvious reasons, this season is not as busy as previous years, as many travelers are staying home for the holidays.
The SEA Airport team publishes traveler traffic by weekly travel averages as reported by the Transportation Security Administration on the SEA Airport Dashboard. Here’s a quick recap of passenger volume, both actual and expected, for Thanksgiving 2020:
- The number of actual travelers for Thanksgiving week was down 20 percent from initial projections
- Thanksgiving week had an average of 18,000 departing passengers per day
- The week before the holiday averaged 18,700 departing passengers per day
- Travel advisories by Governor Inslee and the CDC had an impact and people stayed home
Staying home or going away?
COVID-19 turned the world topsy turvy, but one thing has stayed the same. Your health and well-being come first. We want to hear how you’re doing … and how we’re doing. Are you staying home or hitting the road this year? What will make you feel safe and ready to travel? We’re focused on the now but are looking ahead to a busier terminal and better times. So we want to know how you’re feeling about flying and the future. And we’ll be here when you are ready.
Test to travel
Want to get a COVID-19 test so you can keep the people you care about safe? You can now get a test at SEA Airport through Discovery Health MD.
Discovery Health MD is an approved trusted testing partner for Hawai’i. And the partner lab results have been approved by the State of Hawai’i for entrance to the state. A negative test allows you to bypass Hawaii’s mandatory 14-day quarantine if you collect your negative test results before flying and present them upon arrival.
Testing is limited to ticketed passengers up to 72 hours prior to travel. Testing is done by appointment seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hours are subject to change and travelers must schedule appointments online.
The cost is $250 for COVID-19 PCR lab tests and insurance is not accepted. Same day testing is currently not available due to a backlog, but check the Discovery Health MD website for changes.
