It’s easy being green at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) but today our colors are gold. Other airports may be green with envy. SEA was honored to be named the 2022 World Airport Awards winner of the Best Airport in North America. And we wouldn’t have gotten this without you, really!
How did SEA get here?
Real-life travelers voted in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey; the World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for airports by assessing customer service and facilities from more than 550 global airports. The questionnaires were completed by travelers of over 100 nationalities during the eight-month survey period from 2021 to 2022. The survey evaluates the customer experience across every step in the passenger journey from check in, arrivals, connections, shopping, security screening and customs, to departure at the gate.
Our northern neighbors, Vancouver International Airport (YVR), held this title for the past 12 years! Being the next in line is no easy feat. We love the sweet taste of victory and maple syrup as we keep this impressive streak in the Pacific Northwest. And as much as we love our coffee in Seattle, stay tuned for a friendly wager that’s brewing with YVR for who takes home the accolade in 2023. But no matter who wins, the ultimate winner is not YVR or SEA, but travelers!

If you’ve been to SEA lately, you may have seen our latest upgrades like the N Concourse modernization and the new International Arrivals Facility. You and other travelers are sharing your love for them, and we have more coming:
- SEA Gateway – First impressions matter, so these improvements to the ticketing and baggage claim area will help you breeze through pre-security
- Checkpoint 1 Relocation – A new era of TSA checkpoints is coming and to better connect you to post-security
- S Concourse Evolution – Expect a brighter and better S Concourse on your next international adventure
- Widen Airport Drives – Traffic is a drag, but when this project is complete, picking up and dropping off passengers will be a breeze
- Baggage Handling System Optimization – Upcoming improvements beneath your feet will help get your bags where they need to go quickly
- Concourse C Expansion – Enjoy more restaurants, retail, and lounge space
- Automated Parking Guidance System – Installation of these light indicators in the airport’s on-site garage will help tell you whether a spot is open, taken, ADA or Electric Vehicle designated all while cutting down emissions
- Restroom Renovations – Refresh in upgraded restrooms, additional water filling stations, and selfie-worthy bathroom pics, coming now through 2023 in the C, B, and D Concourses!
- Get comfy – Kick back with updated seating throughout the terminal with more power stations and comfort that you need while you wait

- A special space and tools for those with hidden disabilities like our Sensory Room, Sunflower lanyards, social story and more for travelers with hidden disabilities
