Statement from Port of Seattle Commission Vice President Toshiko Hasegawa:
“The Port of Seattle was saddened to hear of the passing of Charles ‘Charley’ Royer. He was a true champion for the region, and the Port appreciates his leadership on key initiatives that have left an imprint not only on Seattle but on the Port and our working waterfront. Main among them was the push to build the West Seattle Bridge and his vision to rebuild the central waterfront, including what are now Port properties including the World Trade Center and Bell Harbor Marina, Terminal, and Conference Center. This continued with his work as the co-chair of Friends of the Seattle Waterfront Committee and as a leading voice for sustainability for the region. Charley made our region a better place to work and live today and for future generations.”
