The holidays bring joy and festivity, but the hustle and bustle can also overwhelm. For those of us that make lists — but don’t check them twice — Sea-Tac Airport is the perfect back-up plan for forgotten host gifts or last-minute stocking stuffers.
With brands from the Northwest and around the world, we have amazing shopping options for travelers arriving or departing this holiday season. Here are a few last-minute gift ideas that are way better than a lump of coal.
Let there be light
Seattle-based glassybaby, located on Concourse A, is offering two holiday gift sets! The first pair of votives, Starry Night and Holy Night, use silver, gold, and other precious elements to color them with ethereal hues.
The second holiday collection, Precious Cargo, includes three votives named Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh.
Each glassybaby is hand blown in Seattle, and a percentage of each sale is dedicated to the White Light Fund, which provides grants to nonprofits that are consistent with the glassybaby mission.
Sweet treats
Stop by Seattle Chocolate at the beginning of the C Gates for its assorted holiday truffle gift sets.
The Woodland Fox Holiday Gift Box with 18 assorted chocolate truffles and Woodland Buck Holiday Gift Box with 36 truffles holds flavors such as Candy Cane, Hot Buttered Rum, Hiker’s Trail Mix and Tukwila Hazelnut. Seattle Chocolate wraps the essence of the Pacific Northwest into delicious and made- to-share truffles and bars.
Greatest hits
The only retail location of Sub Pop, a Seattle independent record label, is in the Central Terminal near Concourse C at Sea-Tac Airport. With a mix of Sub Pop merchandise and items sourced from designers, artists, and companies who also call the Pacific Northwest home, Sub Pop has gift options from music and books to art and apparel. The newly-launched clothing collection is anchored by the Fremont Flannel, a grunge-inspired red buffalo print flannel shirt.
Live the Northwest
Also in the Central Terminal, Made in Washington is the perfect stop for an eclectic local selection of products from wine and soaps to cookbooks by Tom Douglas.
The specialty foods, arts and crafts, and kitchen products are produced by local artisans and craftsmen. These Purple Haze Lavender soaps smell wonderful, pack easily, and are produced in Sequim.
Fancy and yummy
Lastly, Lady Yum macaron gift sets are perfect host gifts for something sweet and petite. Pick your flavors and the staff will pack your macaroons into cute, festive gift boxes. In addition to original flavors such as lemon, salted caramel, and espresso fudge (that we couldn’t live without), the get-them-now December flavors are eggnog, peppermint bark, and frosted sugar cookie.
It’s a wrap
Pro tip: The TSA advises that wrapped gifts may need to be opened by security for a closer look, so consider the gift-wrapping stations available at Sea-Tac Airport. Go through security with unwrapped gifts and have someone else do the wrapping at one of two gift wrapping stations after security. They’re open in the Central Terminal between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and all proceeds benefit USO Northwest. Better yet, finish your last minute shopping and your gift-wrapping in one visit at Sea-Tac Airport!
