Human Resources Intern Pursues Her Passion of Helping Others
Introduced to the internship program at the Port of Seattle by a close friend, Bemnet Asefa immediately started researching all of the positions available and applied to the one that appealed to her the most, human resources. Bemnet’s love for helping people is displayed through service and interaction with her community by volunteering at the White Center foodbank.
Bemnet is a rising senior at the Health Sciences and Human Services High School on the Ev-ergreen Campus; she is starting the year as Key Club president, National Honor Society treasurer, and a varsity gymnast. She is also in the University of Washington Young Executives of Color pro-gram where she learns about being in business as a minority. In order to pursue her goal of becom-ing a business marketer, Bemnet initially must understand how to interact with a wide variety of indi-viduals. The Human Resources internship provided her with exactly that opportunity since her main task is communicating with interns about their experience and seeking ways to better the program.
