In 2021, the Port’s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OEDI) conducted an Equity Assessment (EA) across the Port to understand the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, and barriers to advancing equity. This assessment identified opportunities to improve equity and anti-racism, putting forth a robust set of 53 different actions to create a culture of inclusion and belonging. In addition, the Port hired a consultant to conduct an assessment of the barriers and experience of women of color employees at the Port. This 2021 Women of Color (WoC) Assessment produced 11 recommendations aimed at removing barriers to the success of women of color within our organization.
To track the progress towards each action from these assessments and prioritize accountability and transparency, we’ve built the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) Dashboards. The EDIB Dashboards serve to monitor progress and provide visibility into the steps being made to create a more equitable and inclusive workplace. The dashboards allow for all employees and the public to quickly see the aggregate progress percentage towards identified actions/recommendations, the progress made by each department in meeting its annual departmental EDI goals, and the results of the annual internal Belonging and Inclusion Survey (view 2023 Belonging and Inclusion Survey Report).

We believe the act of regularly measuring progress on our efforts and the outcomes of our organizational culture can help ensure we are upholding the commitments we made to both Port employees as well as the broader Port community who engage and work with the Port.
