SEATTLE – Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) welcomed Delta Air Lines’ first nonstop flight to Taipei from the U.S. today. Ahead of a potentially record-breaking summer, passengers now have even more options for direct access to international destinations as a record 51 services take flight from SEA. A ribbon-cutting ceremony before boarding featured remarks from Delta President Glen Hauenstein alongside Port of Seattle Commission Vice President Toshiko Hasegawa and Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle Daniel Kuo-ching Chen.
Delta now operates nearly 170 daily departures from SEA to more than 50 destinations worldwide. SEA serves as a crucial coastal hub for Delta and a key gateway for the airline’s operations across the Pacific, which — with the addition of TPE — features routes to Incheon (ICN), Tokyo (HND), and Shanghai (PVG). “We welcome this new service to Taipei and Delta Air Line’s continued dedication to SEA and our region,” said Port of Seattle Commission Vice President Toshiko Hasegawa. “Our recent international growth through the SEA Gateway is a testament to the appeal our region and communities offer the world, both culturally and economically. The Port looks forward to leaning into these expanded opportunities for international relationships, and finding connections that serve our local community and beyond.”
“This route not only opens new doors to Taipei’s captivating skyline, vibrant night markets, and rich cultural heritage, but it also marks a significant stride in enhancing Seattle's global connectivity,” said Joan Wang, Managing Director — Global Sales, Seattle. “This strategic addition to Delta's trans-Pacific portfolio is poised to make a profound impact on the Seattle market, fostering increased business and leisure travel opportunities for our discerning customers.”
Why visit Taipei?
Described as a city of contrasts — modern and traditional, urban and natural — Taipei is an economic and cultural center. Travelers visiting Taipei, either as a stopover or for a longer stay, will have endless opportunities to explore a rich variety of experiences. Taipei maintains an incredibly large collection of Chinese art and is home to one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers — Taipei 101. There are plenty of street markets and world-class restaurants to dine at. And if the hustle and bustle of the city isn’t your speed, it’s just as easy to escape to the nearby mountainous foothills.
